C-130s, Fokker plane, Sokols, Hueys all mission ready – entire AFP on red alert

Philippine Air Force readies its air assets for possible disaster response in case needed after Typhoon Hagupit, locally named Ruby, passes Philippine territories.

Lockheed C-130 “Hercules” cargo planes, Fokker F-27 “Friendship”, W-3A “Sokol” and UH-IH “Huey” II helicopters are now being stand-by for immediate need. Along with these air assets PAF also prepares satellite phone, rubber Boats, ambulance and engineering equipment.

PAF also has disaster response unit composed of search-and-rescue teams, aviation engineers, medical teams, communication, security and support teams ready for deployment.

As of 12 noon today, December 4 the whole Armed Forces of the Philippines is on red alert which means all units and assets are ready for quick deployment.

The said typhoon is greatly expected to make a landfall in Eastern Samar morning of Saturday, December 6.
