PNP chief Purisima suspended without pay

Office of the Ombudsman suspends Philippine National Police chief Director General Alan Purisima along with other PNP officials.

Purisima’s six-month suspension will be implemented by Department of Interior and Local Government. “Upon receipt [of suspension order], DILG secretary must immediately implement,” Assistant Ombudsman Asryman Rafanan said in a media briefing.

Purisima was accused of gross neglect of duty in connection with the alleged anomalous contract for a courier service from WERFAST Documentary Agency in 2011.

He will be suspended while administrative investigation is on going without pay.

The PNP chief also faces complaints regarding his alleged hidden wealth.
