The Philippines Azkals will face Thailand’s War Elephants in the semi-final round of Asian Football Federation Suzuki Cup on Sunday, December 7 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium. The game on Sunday is the first out of two matches between Azkals and War Elephants for the semi-final round. Second match will take place at War Elephants’ home court.
“Our game against Thailand is very, very important. It’s the biggest game of the year for us,” head coach Thomas Dooley told sports writers in a forum.
According to Dooley Philippines last won against Thailand in a football match way-back in 1971.
“The Thais have won the last 14 games against us. Its’ about time to write some history but it will be a very, very difficult task,” the Azkals head coach said.
“We will try as much as we can. Now, if it happens we’ll see. Everything has to be right and that’s what we’re trying to do. It’s about time,” Dooley adds. “Thailand has been doing an excellent job the last 30 years.”
