Malacanang to ER Ejercito: No selective justice

Malacanang on Monday belied ousted Laguna Governor ER Ejercito allegation that his family is being targeted by the Aquino administration. ER Ejercito also claimed that the sin of the Aquinos against the Ejercitos is too deep.

Secretary Herminio Coloma said the government’s actions are based on rule of law. The principle of straight path (Tuwid na Daan) is in line with Philippine Constitution and laws of the Republic.

The Supreme Court upheld Comelec’s decision to disqualify Ejercito as governor for overspending during the 2013 election campaign period. Ejercito exceeded the allowed PhP4.5 million by spending PhP23.5 million.

“It is selective justice. How come those from the Liberal Party have become untouchable, and the only ones they prosecute are those from the opposition? Let us wait for 2016,” Ejercito said.

However, Coloma said that the Aquino government is not afraid of threats to prosecution because they are just doing their job. He added that the ousted governor may appeal his case to proper venue.

ER Ejercito is a nephew of Joseph Estrada. His cousin Senator Jinggoy Estarda is currently detained.
