Manny Pacquiao wins over Chris Algieri

Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao defended his WBO Welterweight title against Chris Algieri November 23 at Cotai Arena in Macau, China.

The undefeated 30-year-old American fighter who has five inches reach advantage was defeated by the Filipino champ via unanimous decision. Algieri was downed by Pacquiao six times throughout the bout.

Genaro Rodriguez who has been a boxing official for more than 20 years was appointed as referee in Pacquiao and Algieri’s fight. The panel of judges includes veteran Michael Pernick who previously judged three of Pacquiao’s fight, Levi Martinez who was among the crew that awarded Pacquiao over his fight with Joshua Clottey in 2010 , and Patrick J. Morley the only judge who never worked with the two boxers before.

Hollywood actors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone visited Pacquiao in his locker room prior to the fight.

The event also featured 12-round bout between WBO featherweight champ Vasyl Lomachenko and No. 1 ranked Chonlatarn Piriapinyo, a flyweight bout between Zou Shiming and Kwanpichit Onesongchaigym, and a light welterweight title clash between Jessie Vargas and Antonio DeMarco.
