Detained Senator Ramon Revilla Jr. is paying former National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Senior Document Examiner Atty. Desiderio Pagui to testify for him in a petition to bail hearing regarding the multi-billion pork barrel fund scam.
Former NBI document examiner Atty. Pagui said documents submitted to Commission on Audit with Senator Revilla’s signature are all forged. However, during the cross examination, Pagui admitted that Revilla paid him with PhP200,000 to testify.
After the last day of bail hearing for Revilla, the detained senator said Pagui was paid to testify as an expert witness, he was not paid to lie.
However, Prosecutor Joepherson Turibio said that such large amount of money may sway Pagui’s testimony. Turibio added that Pagui was previously pressured to sign a report on which he is not convinced. “You cannot rely on the so called finding of that expert, because at one point in time he admitted that he signed a report even if he didn’t agree with it, due to pressure. So how can you rely upon his finding now?”
Sandiganbayan is expected to make a decision regarding Revilla’s petition to bail next week. Revilla is confident that the anti-graft court will grant his petition to bail.
