Property developers such as SM Development Corp., Megaworld Corp., Robinsons Land Corp., Rockwell Land Corp. and Eton Properties denies giving condominium units to Vice President Jejomar Binay.
Former Makati Vice Mayor Ernesto Mercado revealed in Senate blue ribbon subcommittee hearing Tuesday that the condominium units were given to Binay in exchange for tax and building permit grants. Mercado also a added that Ayala Land Inc. is one of the developer that did not give any condominium units to the former Makati Mayor.
Even though Mercado claimed that the transaction with Binay during his term is an open secret in Makati City non of the property developers mentioned proved Mercado’s statement.
Bernard Vincent Dy president of Ayala Land said “This is not our business practice nor have we encountered a request of this nature.”
According to Megaworld’s head of public relations and communications Harold Geronimo “No, we don’t do that.”
SMDC which has a four-tower Jazz Residences in Bel-Air Makati stated “We started our Makati condo project late 2010 and Vice President Binay or any member of his family has no unit or units in our project.”
RLC’s spokesperson also issued a statement denying the said allegation.
“Our records bare no history of any transaction with Vice President Binay nor his family members. And neither is there any unit currently registered under the ownership of the Vice President nor his family members,” Rockwell Land Corp. said.
According to Eton Properties of the Lucio Tan group “Eton did not and will not give any condominium unit to any politician or government official in exchange for preferential treatment as Eton maintains a policy of complying with all LGU (local government unit) regulations for all its developments.”
