Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago is planning to claim what she believes is rightfully hers, the Philippine Presidency. The lady senator and lawyer posted on her social networking site account that if she recovered from lung cancer she will run for presidency.
“In the 2016 presidential elections, when I am rid of my lung cancer, I intend to claim the presidency I won in 1992,” Senator Santiago said. Santiago said earlier that 90 percent of her cancer cells have already regressed.
She added that if she wins as the country’s head of state, youth and senior citizens will have a great role in her leadership.
“Should I be elected president, I intend to appoint a cabinet, half of whom shall be from the youth sector, and half from senior citizens.”
Santiago believes that “youth political participation should go beyond token gestures, and instead should be meaningful and effective.”
“Youth activism will be service to God and our country, which is gripped by so much corruption and poverty that it can reduce you to tears.”
One supporter said, “God bless you Senator Miriam, I hope and pray that you will be our next president in 2016 in case Mayor Duterte decline to run.”
