Trillanes: Binay joined in planning of Manila Peninsula rebellion but hid

After it was formally challenged, accepted and arranged by a third party, Vice President Binay called off the debate with Trillanes. However, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said VP Binay’s action was expected.

The Senator added that Binay only proved that he cannot be trusted. “This one should destroy whatever credibility was left of him.”

The VP said that Trillanes has been talking about Binay’s advantage as a debater and an attorney. “That’s what I don’t like. They’re making it seem that I’m a bully who’s taking advantage of him. My advantage, if ever I do have one, is that I want to talk about the facts.”

Trillanes revealed that Binay was one of the personalities who planned the 2007 rebellion in The Manila Peninsula Hotel. However, on the day of rebellion against President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo administration the VP did not show up. The Senator said Binay was hiding in Quezon City.

Trillanes said the Manila Peninsula incident was one of his sad experience with VP Binay.

It can be remembered that after a 6-hour siege Trillanes and Brigadier General Danilo Lim, with other Magdalo mutineers, surrendered after an armored personnel carrier barged into the hotel lobby’s glass door.
