“I respectfully disagree [that] it’s time to wrap up the hearings because there is still a lot of evidence out there and the Makati City officials themselves will not submit them,” Senate Majority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano said.
Senator Cayetano explained that future hearings are important to “show a pattern and it will show that if it can be done in Makati, it can also be done in the rest of the country.” He added that lack of cooperation from Makati City officials is also delaying the probe.
Senator Antonio Trillanes IV earlier said that the Senate Blue Ribbon Sub-committee will proceed to investigate five other allegedly overpriced buildings in Makati City which are ‘equally scandalous’. These include the Makati City Hall Building 1, Makati Science High-school Building, Nursing Building, Ospital ng Makati and Friendship Suites.
“If we have one hearing per building, that would be five hearings. We’ll even conduct an ocular inspection. We can’t squeeze everything into one hearing,” Trillanes said.
Senator Trillanes believes that the whole sub-committee investigation will be finished April of next year.
