Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago believes that the Senate Blue Ribbon Sub-committee already gathered enough evidences regarding the alleged corrupt practices in Makati City during the leadership of VP Jejomar Binay. The Senate panel led by Senator Koko Pimentel “can close its hearing and endorse the matter to the Office of the Ombudsman.”
“It may be better to present the files and evidence to the Ombudsman,” Senator Santiago added. So that the Ombudsman can stat studying “criminal facet of the case.”
The lady senator added that journalist Raissa Robles’ interview with VP Binay last 2010 and the Instagram post of Binay’s daughter can be admitted as evidences.
“The blog by Raissa Robles stating that in a 2010 interview, Binay admitted ownership of the Batangas property is an admission against interest that is admissible in court, even if it is hearsay.”
“The Instagram post is admissible in evidence against Binay as admission against interest,” Santiago explained.
Santiago also expressed concern over Binay’s avoidance of Senate. “The innocent is as brave as a lion, the guilty flees,” the senator said quoting a Bible verse.
