Instead of attending the Senate Blue Ribbon mother committee hearing today, Vice President Jejomar Binay chose to fly to Cebu for an expected overnight trip. On Friday morning, Binay is scheduled to have a breakfast with urban poor groups and vendors.
It was reported that the Vice President wants to attend the Senate hearing, however, United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) interim president Tobias Tiangco discouraged Binay to attend. “I will not stop until I’m able to persuade him not to attend the hearing.”
“We have been telling him that he should not be making decisions, and like in the United States, he should let his campaign team make the decisions for him,” Tiangco told ABS-CBN News Channel.
“If we lose voters, it’s not because we did not respond to bad news. It’s because we failed to present more good news,” the UNA executive believes. “I told him that if we started responding, there would be no end to it. The elections in 2016 will be over and we are still explaining.”
Chair of the Blue Ribbon Committee Senator Teofisto Guingona III accepted Binay’s challenge that he may only appear in senate if the mother committee of the Blue Ribbon invites him.
