“Our place in Batangas,” this is what Vice President Binay’s daughter, Joanna Marie Binay said answering a question regarding a photo of the swimming pool in the alleged Hacienda Binay she posted on her Instagram account with handle @jmblicious. The said Instagram account was already disabled.
After flashing the said screen grab on Joanna Marie’s Instagram account, Senate Majority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano then ask Atty. Martin Subido what actions they took or they will take regarding the claim of Joanna Marie regarding the Rosario, Batangas property. Subido said, “Your honor, again, it’s not contrary to the rights of Sunchamp.”
Senator Cayetano also flashed on screen a screen grab from the same Instagram account with VP Binay singing on videoke while at the alleged Rosario, Batangas property.
Binay’s spokesman for political affairs Jonvic Remulla commented through a statement. “Nag-videoke lang, may-ari ka na?”
“The Vice President and his family have been open about using the facilities and visiting Rosario. For one, Dr. Binay has a flower farm there. But these photos, like previous photos shown by Sen. Cayetano, are not proof of ownership,” Remulla added.
Meanwhile, during the opening of the sub-committee’s Thursday hearing, United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) interim secretary general JV Bautista and UNA interim president Toby Tiangco tried to speak at the hearing without any invitation or permission from the sub-committee.
“This is the first time in 17 years in Congress that a person came in and sat down without even raising their hands and asking the chairman, and one of them is a member of Congress. This is a very bad precedent,” Cayetano said after the hearing was suspended for few minutes.
