Senator Antonio Trillanes IV who is part of the Senate Blue Ribbon subcommittee said that he will not step back from his decision to debate with Vice President Jejomar Binay, who is facing plunder and graft charges in the Office of the Ombudsman on the alleged overpricing of the Makati City Hall Building II along with his son Makati Mayor Junjun Binay, and several Makati officials.
In case the debate will not push through, Trillanes guaranteed that he will not be the cause. The senator also said that whether the debate pushes through or not the investigation in the Senate Blue Ribbon subcommittee will still go on.
Trillanes who accepted Binay’s challenge for a one-on-one debate and suggested to hold the debate at the alleged Hacienda Binay in Rosario, Batangas still wants the Vice-President to appear before the Blue Ribbon subcommittee. Trillanes also gave Binay the assurance that he will be given due respect.
The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas has already started its plan for the one-on-one debate. KBP Chairman Jun Nicdao communicates with the both camps regarding the format and venue of the debate.
According to the Nicdao, the KBP will schedule the event within the next two weeks as previously suggested by the Vice President.
