Aquino: I did not offer to help Binay

President Benigno Aquino III clarifies that he did not offer to help Vice President Jejomar Binay, instead, the VP was asking for advice. “The Vice President – was asking advice for instance on what to do. So I did not offer to help. He asked for advice on how to handle the situation amongst other things,” the President said.

Vice Presidential Spokesperson for Political Concerns Jonvic Remulla said Aquino and Binay was talking about the current situation of the VP’s family. “The President asked the Vice President about his family and Vice President replied the family is hurting from all the lies and baseless accusations, especially his wife, Dr. Elenita Binay.”

Remulla said that Binay’s answer raised a question from the President, “The President asked how he can help or ‘paano ako makakatulong?'”

“It was in this context that the Senate was mentioned in the conversation. The Vice President then thanked the President for his concern,” Remulla said.

Remulla’s message was in response to President Aquino’s statement that he told VP Binay the senate is independent. “I can assure you will have all your rights and due processes. We will not countenance anybody manufacturing evidence against you. We will try to keep all the processes on a very professional level,” Aquino said to Binay.
