“I am a proud Butuanon and a Mindanaoan. That is why in February next year, I will officially launch my candidacy for president here in Mindanao because this is where the national government must focus its developmental efforts addressing massive poverty due to unemployment, underdevelopment and absence of economic opportunities,” OFW Family party-list Representative Roy Señeres confirmed last Saturday.
Señeres said current presidential aspirants like Mar Roxas, VP Binay and Senator Allan Cayetano are personifications of job contractualization in the country. “They deprived our ordinary Filipino workers, whose income were not enough because of contractualization of jobs. They suffer the brunt of skyrocketing prices of basic commodities, water and power rates and rental and some could even send their children to school.”
“If I will become president, I will personally appeal to mega-store owners to give our workers a decent living by allowing them to become regular workers receiving regular pay,” Señeres added.
“On climate change, we must have clear cut policies and programs to promote cheap and affordable electricity,” he explained.
Señeres, a lawyer, is a former chairman of the National Labor Relations Commission. He also served as Labor Attache of the Philippine Embassy in United Arab Emirates from 1983 to 1989.
