According to former Makati City Vice Mayor Ernesto Mercado, Vice President Jejomar Binay owns a 350-hectare agriculture estate in Rosario, Batangas not 9 hectares. The Former Makati City vice Mayor mentioned that the Hacienda Binay is under the names of Vice President Jejomar Binay’s dummies. Mercado has a proof that the farm is owned by family Binay and showed photos of Binay’s property in Tagaytay.
Riding a helicopter on Thursday last week, Mercado took photos and video footage around the Binay’s property in Batangas.
Mercado called the property as a “high-end hacienda.” The farm has a maze garden patterned after Kew Gardens in London, an air-conditioned piggery and a flower farm that has imported orchids, a cock farm, a man-made lagoon, a swimming pool and a huge house.
Hacienda Binay is six times the size of the 58-hectare Rizal Park in Manila, 14 times bigger than the 25-hectare Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City and half of San Juan city.
Mercado told Senate Blue Ribbon subcommittee that the Makati City Hall Building II was overpriced to cover for the development of Hacienda Binay. The farm started with less than 10 hectares until it reached 350.
Makati’s former vice-mayor said Hilmarc’s Construction Corp., the contractor of Makati City Hall Building II, developed Hacienda Binay in Batangas.
Binay’s spokesman Joey Salgado said, “Based on records we have gathered, the lessor of the property is Sunchamp Real Estate Development Corp., operator of Sunchamp Agri-Tourism Park.”
