Majority of Filipinos do not agree on PNoy’s second term, Cha-Cha

A recent Pulse Asia survey says six out of ten Filipinos are not in favor for a charter change and President Aquino’s second term. The survey was conducted September 8-15 covering 1,200 adult respondents nationwide.

Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma, Jr. said they were not surprised by the survey’s result.

He added that hearing the voice and sentiments of the people is the President’s responsibility. “This is a continuing process that the President has committed to undertake as part of his stewardship as the Chief Executive of the land.” Pulse Asia may be a part of that process.

“We should be comfortable in discussing issues like these and we should not get tired of tackling matters that have implications on the country’s future,” Coloma noted.

Charter Change and term extension was opened by Aquino in the context of continuing the reforms he made and make it felt by majority of the Filipino. “That’s what we are paying attention to, dedicated and determined,” Coloma explained.

On the other-hand, Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) SecGen Renato Reyes said, “The second term agenda is being used to proclaim the nonexistent achievements of the government and cover-up the corruption scandals involving Aquino and his officials.”
