“Filipino flash” Nonito Donaire Jr. will fight against “Axe Man” Nicholas Walters of Montego Bay, Jamaica on October 18 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Donaire is the 2012 fighter of the year and WBA super featherweight champion whereas Walters is an undefeated WBA regular featherweight champion.
Donaire will stake his newly won WBA world featherweight title from his recent fight over Simpiwe Vetyeka last May 31 in Macau against the heavy-handed boxer. Walters won over Donaire’s former opponent Vic Darchinyan via fifth round knock-out.
The 28 year old Jamaican boxer sees his fight with Donaire as perfect opportunity for him to shine. He also added that this showdown is his dream fight. Just like Walters, Donaire is very excited for their fight and his camp is getting ready for whatever Walters may bring.
Donaire versus Walters fight will feature the battle of middleweight titlist Gennady Golovkin against Marco Antonio Rubio on under-card. Last September 19 in Los Angeles, Top Rank Inc. officially announced Donaire and Walters’ face-off.
