USS Frank Cable, a repair and support ship for submarines is scheduled to arrive at Subic Bay for a routine port visit. The visit aims to emphasize strong alliance between Philippines and the United States.
The said ship is a 1978 vessel built by Lockheed Shipbuilding and Construction Company. It has 500 sailors and 40 are Filipino-Americans.
The 198-meter Emory S. Land-class vessel is equipped with two 40 mm AA guns and four × 25 mm AA guns.
“While in Subic Bay, the sailors of USS Frank Cable are eager to enjoy Olongapo City and strengthen their understanding of a country with deep historical ties to the United States and the U.S. Navy,” US Embassy in Manila said in a release.
The ship was named after an early pioneer in submarine development for the U.S. Navy, Frank Cable.
