President Benigno S. Aquino III arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila Thursday, September 25 at 10 pm. For his arrival speech, he shared the gains Philippines had during the trip to Europe and United States.
He visited Spain, Belgium, France and Germany in Europe, while in US he visited Boston, New York and San Francisco. The president had 94 engagements with private and government sectors and think tanks.
West Philippine Sea is one of the main element of President Aquino’s trip to Europe. Aquino said that European countries commit support to Philippines’ stand on maritime disputes.
During the 12-day trip, Philippines was able to gather USD2.35 billion worth of investment commitments that may create 33,850 jobs for Filipinos. According to the President, twenty-two international corporations have expressed trust in country’s economic and social systems.
Aquino specifically mentioned that he encouraged Volkswagen to put up a global manufacturing hub in the Philippines.
He said the once Sick Man of Asia is now fountain of economic trust. “Ang dating pahirapan kung mapansin, ngayon, marami nang nag-uunahang kausapin. Napakataas na po talaga ng tingin ng mundo sa Pilipinas.”
