On April 17, 2007, Incheon won the bidding defeating Delhi, India to host the Games. Incheon is the third South Korean city to host the said games. First to host was Seoul in 1986 and Busan last 2002.

“Diversity Shines Here” is the official slogan of this year’s Asian Games revealed on September 16, 2010. Asia is composed of different countries with unique cultures and traditions.

Chief of Mission Ricardo Garcia’s said that only the best and most qualified athletes were chosen to represent the Philippines. “Our stringent criteria ensured that only the best entries, only the most qualified athletes will set foot in this village,” Garcia said. “That is why we have only 150 of our best athletes entered here.”
