“The people do not want Aquino or any of his clones to stay beyond 2016. We have had enough of their anti-people policies and corruption,” Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) secretary general Renato Reyes said.
President Aquino said last Friday that the time will come when he will announce his presidential candidate. The President added that the Filipino people are the ones who will continue his reforms.
“What reforms is he talking about? There is record unemployment and very low wages. Prices of commodities are high. Power rates are high. There is criminality within the PNP. There is corruption at the highest levels of government such as the pork barrel scam. There is the dismal relief and rehab efforts for Yolanda victims. There is the surrender of our national sovereignty,” Renato Reyes said.
“Aquino can’t even implement land reform in his own backyard in Luisita,” the militant leader said. “In what universe will these issues be considered grounds for seeking a second term?”
Renato Reyes noted that a rally will be held on September 19 dubbed as “Never Again to Dictatorship” at Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila.
