Department of Transport and Communications made known to public improvement projects planned for Metro Rail Transit-3 to eased transportation via this line.

Eleven improvement projects are scheduled to start this year and expected to be finished 2016. These includes improvements in signaling and communication systems, queuing and fare systems, safety and additional train cars.

“Forty-eight brand new cars are in the production process. This is the real solution to long lines and over congestion, increase capacity by 66% and will improve headway to 2.5 minutes,” DOTC says. This is expected to be completed before the end of 2016.

DOTC added that repair of 28 cars or Light Rail Vehicles is also scheduled to begin before the end of 204. This is to better serve the public and ensure riders’ safety.

There will also be a construction of an additional footbridge at the North Avenue Station to accommodate passenger queues.

President Aquino said, “There is a problem. But it is a problem that should have less problems attached to it, if certain things were done before we took over.”
