President Benigno S. Aquino III will personally hand the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) draft to lawmakers in Malacañang Palace on Wednesday during an event.
“The leaders and our expected champions in Congress will be going to Malacañang and the President himself has decided he will personally endorse the draft to Congress,” Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Teresita Quintos Deles said.
Bangsamoro Basic Law aims to put a solution in the armed conflict and improve the economy in Mindanao.
“The peace and order is crucial to improve the economy in Mindanao. Many foreign governments are waiting for the Bangsamoro Basic Law so that they can offer grants for our poor Muslim brothers and sisters in Mindanao,” Senate President Drilon said in and interview with dzRH.
Drilon added that he looks for an immediate passing of the said law.
“We will request the Senate Committee on Local Government headed by Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the Senate Committee on Peace, Unity and Unification headed by Senator Teofisto Guingona III to immediately conduct committee-level hearings,” he said.
“I’m confident that our self-imposed deadline is still within reach,” he added.
