The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) is looking into the possibility that racing champion Enzo Pastor was involved in a ‘love triangle’ prior to the killing.
Wednesday, the Quezon City police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDG) announced the arrest of alleged mastermind, businessman Domingo de Guzman III. The arrest came a few days after the alleged gunman, PO2 Edgar Angel, 42, was caught during a buy-bust operation last August 23, along Boni Serrano Road, Libis, Quezon City.
Angel, a policeman assigned at the Pasay City police station, was arrested by the anti-illegal drugs operatives after selling almost 100 grams of ‘shabu’ placed inside an iPhone 4S box to a police poseur, Saturday.
Pastor was shot dead on June 12 by a motorcycle-riding tandem as he stopped at a traffic light in Mindanao Avenue, Quezon City while transporting a racecar to Pampanga from Batangas.
In a media briefing, Quezon City CIDG chief Rodel Marcelo said a tipster identified Angel as a suspect in Pastor’s shooting case, to which the latter admitted in doing during the tactical interrogation. According to Angel’s account of the incident, he was hired by de Guzman for P100,000 plus P50,000 as “bonus” to carry out the murder of Pastor.
De Guzman, was arrested while in the act of handing the P50,000 “bonus” to Angel during an entrapment operation along Sto. Nino Village, Muntinlupa City. Also recovered from de Guzman were two handguns with ammunition.
Pastor’s wife, Dahlia Guerero-Pastor, is also considered a suspect after police investigators claimed to have established that she and de Guzman have an affair. According to the parents of Enzo Pastor, the wife had been constantly communicating with them until the 40th day of their son’s death in July.
Angel and De Guzman will be temporarily detained at Camp Karingal in Quezon City while Pastor’s wife, Dahlia remains at large.
