“I will be forced to put up our own candidate in the opposition. Democracy will be lost if the opposition will have no candidate,” Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada said commenting on the recent revelation by VP Binay that the Liberal Party is eying him as the standard bearer in 2016 elections.
“We will lose democracy should we have no candidate to field. There must be a presidential candidate for the opposition,” Estrada noted.
“We will see if we can get our own candidate. If we cannot get a candidate, then that is the only time that I would run. But still it’s 50-50 percent.”
Vice-President Binay said “I heard lately not a coalition but possibility of an adoption, as a candidate.”
“There’s no such thing. Honest, I am a member of the executive committee of the LP and there’s been no discussion on that,” Senate President Drilon told ANC Headstart.
According to Drilon the Liberal Party will support Mar Roxas in case he decided to run in 2016.
Liberal Party will choose a candidate who is not tainted with corruption. LP is preparing a standard bearer from ‘inside the party’, according to source.
