PNoy feels Filipinos adequately support West PH Sea claim, FOI bill certified urgent

According to Presidential Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. President Aquino decided not to mention the FOI bill because “he had already made the assurance – during the Daylight Dialogue that it would be passed before his term ends in 2016.”

“He made a judgment call that, indeed, a word to the wise will suffice – hence, he deemed it no longer necessary to discuss it anew in the SONA.”

Issues in the West Philippine Sea was not mentioned because “the President may have felt there is sufficient public awareness on the West Philippine Sea issue, as well as an adequate level of support from the people, including endorsements from leading countries, to the country’s recourse to UN (United Nations) arbitration.”

Almost thirty bills and measures were asked by President Aquino for the Congress to immediately pass and act on including 2015 budget, 2015 supplemental budget, FOI bill, amendments to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) charter, Whistle-Blowers Protection Act, Act Instituting Reforms in Land Administration, Amendments to the Anti-Enforced Disappearance Law and revision of the criminal code and delineation of the Philippine maritime zone/archipelagic sealanes.
