President Benigno Aquino III is set to deliver his fifth State of the Nation Address next week, Monday, July 28. In the upcoming SONA 2014 Aquino is expected to report the government’s accomplishment for the past year.
PNoy is anticipated to report Department of Social Welfare and Development’s accomplishment through its Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) during the four-year period ending June 30, 2014. DSWD is projecting coming 2010 approximately 20 million families will be benefited in the said program.
The President will also mention how the Ombudsman is working to fight graft and corruption through good governance. The Bureau of Customs will also be a topic in next week’s SONA. Eight brand new estate-of-the-art fixed baggage Nutech X-ray machines have been utilized to increase this year’s revenue.
Aquino will not miss to report next week Clark Green City’s NEDA approval, Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway and other roads accomplished by Department of Public Works and Highways.
Mindanao peace process might be the highlight of the President’s SONA. “The signing of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro and the completion of the draft of the Bangsamoro Law, a peaceful transition in Mindanao is essential for the country’s economic and social development, especially in conflict communities in Mindanao,” EU Ambassador Guy Ledoux said.
Another highlight is the AFP modernization. It is seen that the Philippines will be able to have a minimum credible defense before the end of Aquino’s term.
