AFP got its new chief – ceremony on Friday

Reports on Wednesday confirmed Lieutenant General Gregorio Pio Catapang will be replacing Armed Forces of Philippines Chief of Staff General Emmanuel Bautista.

On July 20 Chief of Staff General Emmanuel Bautista will be turning 56, a military personnel’s retirement age.

Last May 16 Lieutenant General Gregorio Pio Catapang was designated as AFP’s Vice Chief of Staff.

Before his designation as Vice Chief of Staffe, Catapang was the head of Northern Luzon Command. He is a part of Philippine Military Academy “Dimalupig” Class of 1981.

During his early career, Catapang was a part of Reform the Armed Forces Movement the group who led the revolt against Marcos in 1986.

AFP change-of-command ceremony and testimonial review in honor of outgoing Chief of Staff will be held on Friday July 18.
