Australian influential jihad propagandist arrested in Cebu

Friday, July 11, Robert Edward Cerantonio also known as Musa Cerantonio, an Australian Islam convert was arrested at Barangay Ibo in Lapu-lapu City.

According to Cebu police, Cerantonio is promoting jihad.

He is asking people to join jihad in Iraq and Syria using social media.

“We cannot say with certainty that he had any contact with local Muslim groups,” said Region 7 Deputy Police Chief Superintendent Conrado Capa.

Cerantonio has been in the country since early this year.

He also tweeted he is leaving the Philippines to join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), an unrecognized state and active jihadist militant group in Iraq and Syria.

“In one broadcast on his website, he called on brother Muslims to join the war in Iraq and Syria,” said Capa.

In Australia, Cerantonio is dubbed as one of the most influential jihad propagandists.

He will soon be deported to Australia.
