President Benigno Aquino III rejected Budget Secretary Florencio Abad’s offer for resignation. The resignation was made amid Supreme Court’s decision over Disbursement Acceleration Program.
Aquino revealed the said resignation, over state-run TV station telecast, during 2015 budget presentation in Malacañang Friday.
“I have considered the same and I have decided not to accept the resignation,” the President said.
“Let me explain why. The notion in the current atmosphere is – DAP was bad for our people. Even our most vociferous critics – the DAP has benefited our people,” Aquino elaborated.
“To accept his resignation is to assign to him a wrong. And I can’t accept the notion that – doing right by our people is a wrong. Therefore, I have decided not to accept his resignation,” he added.
“There are indicators showing that the DBM Secretary might have established the DAP knowingly aware that it is tainted with unconstitutionality,” Justice Arturo Brion said in reports.
