PNoy attends initial coordination meeting for papal visit on January 2015

President Benigno S. Aquino III attends the initial coordination meeting on the forthcoming papal visit scheduled for January 2015. The meeting was held at the Heroes Hall of Malacañan Palace, as reported by the Official Gazette of the Republic of the Philippines.

Aquino met Dr. Alberto Gasbarri, chief organizer of papal international apostolic visits, during the said metting.

According to CBCP, the leader of the worldwide Catholic Church “has clearly laid out his wish that the main objective of his visit is to bring Christ’s compassion for our suffering people still struggling to rise from the devastation wrought by the earthquake and typhoon that hit the Visayas.”

The last papal visit in Philippines was in 1981, 33 years ago done by Pope John Paul II who stayed in the country for 6 days.

According to CBCP president Socrates Villegas, Pope Francis will definitely pass by Manila.

Complete details of the said visit on January 2015 will be made available coming November this year.
