“Yesterday, we again witnessed another development in the pork barrel case, as Senator Juan Ponce Enrile surrendered to authorities after the Sandiganbayan issued a warrant of arrest against him for plunder and graft,” Deputy Presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said on Saturday.
“As the nation closely follows this important episode in the pursuit of truth, we continue to ask the public to remain vigilant as the Sandiganbayan works to fulfill its mandate: to follow the appropriate processes in the service of justice,” she added.
Senator Juan Ponce Enrile (JPE) surrendered directly to Camp Crame shortly after the Sandiganbayan issued his arrest warrant in connection with the PhP10 billion pork barrel scam.
Enrile will be staying at Philippine National Police hospital at Camp Crame until Sandiganbayan releases the old senator’s commitment order on Monday.
JPE’s former chief of staff Jessica Lucila “Gigi” Reyes surrendered herself to the Sandiganbayan, she will stay at the court’s detention cell before moving her to Bureau of Jail Management and Penology’s facility at Quezon City.
