Presidential Communications Operations Office Head Herminio Coloma Jr. said, “Claims to maritime entitlements in the South China Sea or West Philippine Sea” cannot be based on drawings.
According to Coloma during the regime of Chiang Kai-Shek China is using 11-dash line and turned to 9-dash line, and now it’s 10. “Dino-drawing lang nila yun.”
Coloma emphasized that during these modern times the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) invalidates these drawings.
China is quick to defend the said map, “China’s publishing houses in some regions published various kinds of Chinese maps with the purpose of serving the public, and there is no need to over-read it. Chinese government’s position on the South China Sea is consistent, clear and free of any change.”
China’s 10-dash line map virtually leaves no water for Philippines.
