Approximately a thousand strong men of Philippine and US Navy will join Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Philippines 2014 coming June 26.
CARAT is an annual exercise conducted by U.S. Pacific Fleet. Activities include but is not limited to helicopter operations, shipboard communications and maneuvering drills, surface gunnery exercises. tactical freeplay events, and search and rescue practical scenarios.
This year’s CARAT will be based in Subic. Drills and exercise will be held in West Philippine Sea, near but will not enter disputed waters. Navy said earlier that China doesn’t have to worry with the said naval training and exercise.
US will be sending USS Halsey, USNS Ashland and USNS Safeguard and for Philippines the BRP Ramon Alcaraz, BRP Emilio Jacinto, two Augusta helis, and one Islander.
