Brunei-PH strengthen military ties

7th Joint Defence Working Committee (JDWC) Meeting between Republic of the Philippines and Brunei Darussalam was held June 17 at Department of National Defense Building.

According to Brunei’s Ministry of Defence press release, the said meeting was co-chaired by Department of National Defense Undersecretary for Defense Policy Pio Lorenzo F. Batino and the Brunei Darussalam’s Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Colonel (Rtd) Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Azmansham bin Pengiran Mohamad.

“At the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitments to strengthen further their defence ties. A range of bilateral matters was discussed, including bilateral exercise, courses and training, and intelligence exchanges,” said in the press release.

“Both Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines gave their overview and assessments on the regional security outlook,” it added.

Philippines, Brunei, Vietnam, Malaysia and Taiwan have sovereignty issue with China who claims virtually all the South China Sea.
