116th PH Independence Day celebration: Pagsunod sa Yapak ng mga Dakilang Pilipino, Tungo sa Malawakan at Permanenteng Pagbabago

“Let this commemoration of our ancestors’ heroism be not just a portion of our country’s glorious and exciting narrative, but also a reminder for everyone that we are our nation’s stewards of peace, equality, and prosperity, and that we are all bearers of a proud heritage, tasked to demonstrate integrity, transparency, and accountability in all our pursuits,” President Aquino said in his Independence Day message to Filipino’s abroad.

The 116th celebration of Philippine Independence has a theme, “Pagsunod sa Yapak ng mga Dakilang Pilipino, Tungo sa Malawakan at Permanenteng Pagbabago.”

Aquino will be commemorating the event at Naga to honor martyrs from Bicol. The event will be highlighted with a flag raising ceremony and the president’s message.

Different protest groups will hold rallies on June 12 for different causes. Anti PDAF rally will be held in Manila to call for the fast prosecution of all PDAF ‘abusers’ whether they are opposition or administration allies.

Another group will conduct rally in front of Chinese embassy at Makati to call the attention of Chinese government and send a message to stop activities in West Philippine Sea that are provocative.

On the other hand, Department of Labor and Employment organized Kalayaan job fair to be held on June 14 at Rizal park. “The 2014 Kalayaan Job Fair will bring in over 35,000 job vacancies, 8,957 of which are local jobs, 15,000 are jobs overseas, and 11,498 are government jobs,” Secretary of Labor and Employment Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz said.
