Ernesto Maceda questions procurment of anti-submarine helicopters

“Military experts are asking why the DND is procuring 2 anti-submarine helicopters. Note that China has more than 50 submarines in its fleet. They suggest that DND should use the P5.4 billion to buy 8 transport helicopters or buy 5 C-130 plane,” former Senate President Ernesto Maceda said in his commentary posted on

The Department of National Defense is currently on the bidding process for 2 anti-submarine helicopters with allocated budget of PhP5.4 billion.

Maceda said, “A 30% commission would bring P1.8 billion in commissions. There should be an investigation of the purchases of equipment under the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) modernization program.” And he raised the question, “Who is behind the deal?”
